What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Keyless Entry

Some key fobs are also able to start your car's engine. This is useful in the event that you have to leave your vehicle on hot days or if you're carrying heavy items in your boot that make it difficult to open the door manually. Press the unlock button on the key fob a couple of times to open the car. The door locks will be locked and the red light will begin to flash. If not then the battery in the key fob could be dead and requires replacement. Alternately, the RF interference created by nearby buildings could interfere with your system.
Some key fobs also have physical keys that can be used to unlock your car (often for the driver's side door, but occasionally the boot as well). peugeot key can typically be opened by flipping up an opening on the fob, or by pressing a button on the case. Certain key fobs come with an exclusive remote engine start button (for example Ford's keyfob has an arrow in a circle that goes clockwise) which you must press in order to remotely start your car. Mazdas, for instance, require you to first lock the key and then press the Start button.
It could be that you have a dead or weak battery in your key fob, if you're not able to start your car. The battery inside the key fob isn't powerful enough to send a signal back to the car's system.
If this happens, you'll need to either replace the batteries or re-program your key fob. This process differs from vehicle to vehicle, but you can generally follow the instructions in your owner's manual. Door Locks
The Peugeot 3008 remote key system enables the owner to lock and unlock their vehicle with the press of a button on the key fob. Contrary to the traditional key, which has a physical key hole the key fob has a hidden electronic copy of the car keys inside.
It does this by utilizing the radio signal which is only sent when the key is at some distance from the car. When the signal is detected an internal solenoid within the door lock translates the electronic command into a mechanical action. This causes a rod to control the car door locks just as an actual key would.
If the Peugeot key fob has stopped locking or unlocking the vehicle, there are a variety of possible reasons for the issue. The most common is the battery of the coin is dead, which can be replaced in minutes. Other causes include worn buttons water damage or signal interference, or a malfunctioning electronic chip.
Modern cars require a very high level of precision in order to function and the key fob isn't immune to this. The key fob could have been programmed incorrectly or it could have a hardware defect that stops the vehicle from responding to the signal of the key. Immobiliser
Peugeot were one of the first car manufacturers to include an immobiliser chip in a key. This prevents the vehicle from starting if it sees an error in the signal sent from the key to the car. If it's new, this is great however, as they age the chips will wear out and start causing problems. This usually starts when you see an alert on your dashboard that reads 'anti theft system active or a warning lamp that reads 'immobiliser failure'.
